  1. City of Markham 2018 Spring Clean-Up Week

    May 14, 2018, 6:00 AM - May 17, 2018, 9:00 PM

    The City of Markham’s Annual Spring Clean-Up will begin on Monday, May 14th and end Thursday, May 17th. Each resident is allowed ONE clean-up day. Your garbage day is your ONLY clean-up day. Please make sure all items are placed on the curb before 7am on your SCHEDULED GARBAGE DAY. Items placed outside after your garbage day WILL NOT be picked up for free. Residents may place unlimited amounts of garbage and household items for pick-up EXCEPT any electronic devices, building materials, paint, engine parts, or tires. Regular scheduled garbage service will return on Monday, May 21st. ***It is the homeowner’s responsibility to dispose of all electronic devices. Please DO NOT drop-off any electronics, i.e. televisions, computers or radios, at City Hall. Please visit http://www.epa.illinois.gov for electronic recycling locations. The Public Works Department will also pick up branches and bushes. PLEASE HAVE ALL BRANCHES/BUSHES PILED ON THE CURB before 7am on your SCHEDULED GARBAGE DAY.

  2. Citizens Police Academy

    May 17, 2018, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ City Hall, Old Council Chambers

    The Citizens Police Academy is a free 10 session program designed to give residents and business owners a firsthand look at the Markham Police Department and it’s employees. Candidates must meet the following criteria; Minimum age of 21, resident or business owner in the City of Markham, and no prior felony or disqualifying misdemeanor arrests. The Academy meets from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, one night per week, at the Old City Council chambers but may meet at other local sites as required. Using both hands-on and classroom instruction, each session focuses on various aspects of police work. During the Academy, participants will be given an opportunity to ride with a Markham Police Officer during a shift, and observe the inner working of the communications center .
