The City of Markham sends monthly bills for water, sewer and scavenger
services. Bills are mailed between the 12th and 15th of every
month. Customers have 20 days to pay their
bills. New residents are required to have the following documents
in order to sign up for services, Trustee Deed, Warranty, Deed, Bill
of Sale, Lease (For Renters) and Driver's License/State I.D.
Past Due Charges & Shut-Off Procedure:
A 10% Penalty will be applied to water, sewer and recycling charges
when payment has not been received by the due date. Service will be
discontinued if the bill remains unpaid for more than 45 days after
the due date shown on the statement. Service will not be restored
until all arrears plus an additional "turn-on" fee of $25.00
has been paid. The City of Markham assumes no responsibility for what
may happen on the premises as a result of the water being turned off.
High Water Bill:
In most instances, higher than normal water usage is caused by undetected
leaks in the flush tank of the toilets, as these are not visible to
the homeowner. We suggest checking your flush tanks periodically.
